The coffee table is part of the furniture collection Quintessence - a project inspired from Romanian and Moldovian traditional craftsmanship. Together with the designer Mihai Stamati, we set out to research and revalue the old production techniques in order to create a unique collection of furniture responsive to contemporary requisites. This project involved the collaboration with craftsmen and encouraged us to research the local materials and the stories behind them.

The coffee table is inspired from the symbolism of the round table - a piece present in all the countrymen houses. The round table gathers all family members together. Around it, they talk, tell stories, eat, drink and sing. A pot filled with hot food is placed in the middle of the table and over time deformes it, making a small impression. We have "deformed" the table from the beginning, so it would resemble to its old usage.
